Developmental Service workers greet Premier McGuinty on May 18th in St. Thomas, calling on him to deliver the funding needed for wages to avoid any province-wide service disruption.

A union job is a good job. Collective bargaining gives us a voice in the decisions that affect our lives at work. Because we have a say in things, and because our members negotiate, it's a fact that they are more satisified with their pay, their workload, training and working conditions than people doing the same work without a union.

Developmental services workers provide professional care primarily to people with developmental or “intellectual” disabilities. We are on the job around the clock in high support behavioural homes and community residences. We also provide individual home care in our clients’ own homes.

The CAS sector advocates for Ontario’s Child Protection staff who protect our children. The CAS Sector Executive and Bargaining Committees, through the central Union, provide resources that members need to win Better Contracts, Better Working Conditions, and educate the Public. We are committed to our dedicated members who see that Ontario’s children are safe.
